Fees
Engaging me as a consultant is transparent and cost-effective. I charge an hourly rate of £250 (ex VAT) per hour. For clients wishing to commit to a number of regular specified days or half-days per week, I charge £750 (ex VAT) per 4-hour half-day and £1,250 (ex VAT) per 8-hour day. These rates are substantially less than the rates charged by partners with equivalent expertise in private practice law firms, which are usually in the region of £450 to £700+ (ex VAT) per hour.
I can also often undertake work on a fixed-fee basis. For instance:
Contract reviews
If you have been asked to sign a contract on a third-party’s terms, whether an NDA, a supplier contract, a customer contract, a collaboration agreement, or some other form of commercial contract, I can review it on a fixed-fee basis according to the level of review you would like:
Bronze. Red flag review.
Silver. Red flag review + summary of key terms and risks, with risk mitigation suggestions.
Gold. Red flag review + summary of key terms and risks, with risk mitigation suggestions + mark-up of contract to reflect suggested approach. The contract mark-up can be:
Light-touch - addressing significant risks only.
Middle path - addressing significant risks and updating the key terms where advisable to protect your key business interests.
Detailed - optimising the whole contract.
If you email me a draft contract and indicate which approach you would like me to take, I will be able to provide a fixed-fee quote prior to undertaking any work. I would gladly discuss with you the level of review you would like me to conduct.
Template contract and policy preparation
I can prepare template contracts for you to use, ensuring they are appropriately tailored for your business. This could include:
NDA
Terms of Business (i.e., Terms of Sale)
Terms of Purchase
Supplier Framework Agreement
Collaboration Agreement
Project Agreement
Agency Agreement
Distribution Agreement
Software Licence
Intellectual Property Licence
Privacy Policy
Terms of Website Use
Compliance Statements (e.g., Anti-Bribery)
Whatever the template contract you need, I will discuss with you your business requirements and the approach to risk that you would like to take, and then give a fixed-fee quote to prepare the template for you.
Invoicing
I will invoice monthly in arrears in respect of work done, and that’s it. No other costs or charges. No shares or share options, so no equity dilution of your company. No PAYE, no employer’s NIC or pension contributions, no employee benefits. No expenses.
Ultimately, I strive to ensure that my approach is transparent, straightforward and flexible. If this could be of interest to you and your business, let’s chat!
